In these settings, no interpretation equipment is usually necessary; rather, it is the classic way of transmitting the utterances of the speakers once they pause to let the interpretation take place. It is more time-consuming, as a 4 hours lecture would take 8 hours to be delivered, but more cost-effective, as no equipment would be needed.
