Last week, the Association of Asian Translation Industry (AATI) has been offcially set up in Bangkok. The organization aims at creating a new era in the Asian and ASEAN translation industry envisioned to serve as a platform and forum for translation standards in Asia and Mr Louis Dinh – CEO of Saigon Translation is the vice-president of AATI. Here goes the official release:

Greetings from New Delhi.
It is my pleasure to bring to your notice that translation scholars and industry representatives from 12 countries and regions of Asia including Cambodia, China, Hong Kong (China), India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam have been continuously working hard to give a formal shape to Association of Asian Translation Industry (AATI) that found its solid base during 3rd International Conference on Translation, Technology, and Globalization in a Multilingual Context jointly organized by Indian Translators Association and Punjab Technical University held at New Delhi, India from June 23 June till June 26, 2012 when Prof. Maneerat Sawasdiwat Na Ayutthaya from Bangkok shared her thought on possibilities of creating and implementing unified standards and practices in translation, interpretation, localization and certification across Asia.
